I loved these two little girls all dressed up for church on Sunday with their matching dresses!  The picture of the little boy, Nephi, was in our primary class.  That is like the Sunday School class for children that we teach each Sunday in Obuasi.  How can you just not love these children?
Once a month Elder Garrison and I get to attend zone conference in one of the zone's in Kumasi.  This is such a treat for us, because not only are we taught some wonderful lessons by the President and his wife, and Zone Leaders but we get the chance to meet and interact with the missionaries a bit!  This was the silly picture that was taken  after the serious one!  This was the Bantama Zone conference.

Can you see the name that is on this store?  It is called:  "Jesus the Owner Store." One thing about the people in Ghana, they are not afraid to advertise their devotion to Jesus.  We see things like this all over the place, on buildings, on cars, you name it.  Look below on what is written on a taxi cab that was in front of us.  I love this about Ghana. 💚💚

You will see piles of scraps of wood like this everywhere.  It is used to make the fires to cook with in big pots outside.  In Ghana, you will see this going on from very early in the morning until late at night.  The two pictures below are examples of what you will see:

On Saturday the Moomey's took us to the CHINA MALL.....inside this store you can find a little bit of everything!  Pots and pans, appliances, clothes, shoes, stationary, food ....you name it.  It isn't really a MALL.....but a pretty big store .....kind of like a Kmart in the day.

Our two oldest children, Bob and Joye went to the funeral of our good friend, Mike Thompson.  We were so grateful that they went and were able to be there to give Mike's wife, LouAnn a big hug.  We got to listen to his funeral and it was so wonderful to be able to hear about Mike from the viewpoint of his children.  He and LouAnn have created a wonderful legacy and I am so grateful for eternal families.  Because I am sure that they will be together again someday with all their family.

Since it is February now, I thought I would share this beautiful chalk art that our granddaughter La did on our chalk board at home.  The funny part is that obviously Max took credit!  We think that La has a future as a graphic designer.  Happy February!

One morning this week I got to listen to the BYU devotional given by Justin Collings.  He is the son of a girl that I served a mission with in Japan as a young sister missionary.  I was so impressed with his talk and with his depth of testimony and his ability to express himself.  He talked about the 6 SEEKS:  1.  SEEK HOLINESS 2. SEEK REVELATION 3. SEEK THE BEST GIFTS 4. SEEK CHRISTLIKE EXEMPLARS AND 6. SEEK THIS JESUS WHOM THE PROPHETS AND APOSTLES HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT.  There were so many little nuggets that I want to remember about the talk, so I will read it when it comes out in text form.  In the meantime, if you want to hear an excellent talk, give it a listen.

On Friday we got to have a Zoom devotional by Kevin Ball.  He talked about what it means to be "Born Again".  It was a fantastic devotional and it was a treat to listen to his presentation.

Well, that is a wrap for out week!  Hope all is going well for our family and friends.  Stay strong and steadfast.

Love,
The Garrisons

  1. I learn so much from you sharing your experiences. It is so humbling. The BYU address of that man you talked about was fantastic. I have listened to it 3 times now. We love and pray for you both. Thank you.
