A beautiful sunset taken from the balcony of the mission office.
Last Sunday we got to stop by the branch that we had attended every week for the past few months. It was so funny how the two little kids in the front: Chloe and Prosper would not let go of Elder Garrison...one of them always had his hand as we were visiting. The children here are just so lovable. Grace is the one that he has his arm around. She was our right hand gal in Primary as she would translate from English to Twi for us. We sure do miss seeing these wonderful people each week as we now visit different branches each week.
I had to take a picture of our office elders (Elder Ison and Elder Beck) last week as they prepared for Zone Conferences. I asked them if they knew that they would become professional shoppers on their missions? They are tasked to buy supplies for all the apartments that are in need of items like pans, bowls, mops, brooms, dustpans....you name it! They do a great job but it can be a bit of a mess getting everything sorted.
This is a huge white board in the President's office that shows all the missionaries and where they are serving. It hadn't been updated for a couple of transfers, so Sister Moomey and I got it up to speed. It took us a while with 213 missionaries serving here now!
I finally finished another rug made out of plastic bags! It keeps my hands busy in the evenings. I am thankful that Sister Coombs (the former mission secretary ) taught me how to make these!
Those of you that know me, know that I am definitely a list maker. I LOVE crossing things off my lists. In fact, if it is not on my list and I did it, I will write it down just so I can cross it off.......hahaha~It can get messy by the end of the week!
Here is fireball Gordy in Texas going to his first day of preschool this year.
Here is Tayleigh, who just turned 5 this past week!
Had to put these pictures of our youngest two grandkids starting pre school this year. I really miss all the grandkids, but the little ones change the most and let's face it, the younger they are, the more they think Deedee and Papa are alight!
This past week was the "mission tour" for the area presidency. This is a time when a member of the area presidency and their wife, comes to the mission and instructs the missionaries at zone conferences and at MLC (mission leadership conference). We had the privilege of having Elder Jorg Klebingot and his wife come to our mission. They were wonderful speakers and I know that the missionaries were taught well. The most astounding thing that I noticed about Elder Klebingot was that he really knew his scriptures. Not only could he quote them, but he knew the exact book and verse of MANY scriptures. One of the Elders asked him how he could recall so many scriptures and he said : "hours and hours of work!" It was really special to have them here in our mission.
This past Sunday we attended the Dunkwa Branch. The picture above is of the children in this branch, many of whom got to church with Brother Williams. I really think there were probably 16 kids in the truck with him. It is so interesting how many children come to church here without their parents!
This is a picture that I snapped of Primary (the children's program in the church). Elder Mba was teaching the children a song and the Primary President was helping him.....with her darling baby on her back. As you can see, they have all the children together in Primary....children up to 11 years old. These small branches don't have the luxury to split into classes because: 1. There aren't enough people to fill the positions as teachers and 2. they're usually are not enough class rooms in the churches . This will all change as the church continues to grow and mature.
For really the first time in my life I am so enjoying the study of Isaiah. I have found so many wonderful passages in the chapters that I have studied so far. I am so grateful for the chance to take time each day to study the word of God. Not only does it enrich my life, but I find little nuggets each day that I can share with those that I love that may be going through a struggle. I know that the Lord will help us and hold our hands through dark times....for that I am so grateful.
Another two weeks down! Time is a flying....looking forward to General Conference next Sunday! Thanks as always for all your love and support! Stay strong and steadfast.
Love,
The Garrisons
